In her spare time and what started as something to keep her busy during the National Pandemic Lockdown, she creates small artisan cakes….check out the story below and remember…WELLS SELLS!
So what's a cupcake realtor?
Anyone who knows Laurie, knows that she loves to cook and bake especially for friends and family. During the Pandemic lockdown in 2020, her son had plans to marry in July. Real estate was shut down for a couple of months like most businesses and no one was really doing much or going anywhere. Laurie is someone who likes to keep busy. During the wedding planning process, the couple wanted to serve cupcakes at the wedding reception. A lot of cupcakes were needed for the wedding….more than she had ever baked at one time but challenge accepted! Mom was on it! What else did she have to do since everything was shut down?!?
Fan favorite cupcakes were baked and transported to the wedding venue which included chocolate with peanut butter frosting, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and white buttercream. The wedding was a beautiful success! During the reception several guests commented on the cupcakes and how delicious they were. Humorous comments of “Well, if real estate tanks, you can always open up a bakery.” and “You should do this as a side hustle.” It was Laurie’s husband, Randy, who said, “I think you should be a cupcake realtor.”
Again, challenge accepted!
It took some time for real estate to get back into full swing. While things were a little laid back, Laurie used this time to bake her small artisan creations. She delivered them to various businesses in the hopes of putting smiles on faces because 2020 was a tough year and “who doesn’t smile while eating a cupcake?” Once real estate closings reoccurred in person, Laurie began giving her clients the cupcakes as part of their closing gift.
The cupcake realtor became official! One can find Laurie's posts/pictures on Instagram @cupcakerealtor or on her Facebook business page @lwellssells with her popular hashtags of #cupcakerealtor, #closingcupcakes, #wellssells and #referralsaresweet just to name a few. Laurie LOVES making her clients smile throughout the real estate process and this is just one of the many ways she makes that happen. Who doesn't love a cupcake in a new house?!?
